Health Tips

Keep Your Pet Healthy!!!!!

  1. Take your bullie's temperature rectally (for an adult, 100/102 degrees – any reading of 103 degrees or above is a sign of danger. Respiratory should be 10/30 breathing per minute.
  2. Check for dehydration by pulling up on the skin in the back of the neck area. If it goes back down, then they are fine.
  3. Check your bullie's gums for a pink color. If their gums are white or pale, that indicates that they are not getting enough oxygen. IMPORTANT, CAN BE A SIGN OF HEART TROUBLE /WHITE BLOOD CELLS LOW AND INTERNAL BLEEDING!!! ALWAYS DO BY YOUR VET X-RAY FIRST FOR AN ENLARGED HEART AND FUILD AROUND THE HEART IS CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE!!! BLOOD WORK ALSO! IF THE DOG HAS WEIGHT GAIN AND COUGHING.
  4. Check the whites of the eyes….make sure they are not yellow.
  5. You should keep track of your bullie's weight. Sudden hair loss, weight gain, or loss could be a thyroid condition.
  6. Keep your bullie's ears and teeth clean. Check their eyes for cloudiness, as this can be a sign of an ulcer in their eye.
  7. Check for lumps or strange moles in the mouth or on the body.
  8. Watch for excessive coughing and nose running. This is a sure sign of KENNEL COUGH or perhaps heart worms and or heart trouble.
  9. Have your bullie rest after eating to help avoid stomach flipping. Watch for stomach bloating. Can ask your Vet to attach the stomach to the rib cage. To stop the stomach from flipping. Can do this at the time of spaying or neutering your pet. ONLY AT THE CORRECT AGE FEMALES AFTER THE FIRST HEAT CYCLE, MALE 2 YEARS OF AGE. FOR THE RIGHT GROW OF THE BULLIES JOINS!!
  10. Check stool for worms. Keep your dog on heartworm HEARTGUARD medication that has parasite protection, like Nexguard. NEVER DO THE COMBO OF HEART WORM AND FLEA OR THE 3 OR 6-MONTH SHOTS!! CAN KILL YOUR PET!!!! NEVER USE FLEA COLLARS OR MEDS FROM WALMART. OVERDOSE FLEA MEDS SHAMPOO AND COLLARS AND THEN A LIQUID! MORE IS NOT BETTER!!!!
  11. Check for strong smell or dark color in urination, infection or stones, or too much protein in their diet!!!!
  12. Have yearly vaccinations and bordetella – blood work for heartworms and lyme disease. You will not need to over-vaccinate after age 7 you just need the monthly HeartGuard and Nexguard. If you have an older bullie, you may want to check blood work. Very important - Ages6 or 7 years old CHECK FOR HEART ISSUES, JUST DO A CHEST X-RAY FOR ENLARGE HEART. GET SCRIP FROM YOUR VET AND GO TO YOUR CHEAPER DRUG STORE, YOUR PET WILL BE ON ENALAPRIL AND FLUOXETINE. This can help the Congestive Heart issues.
  13. If your bullie has been vomiting or has diarrhea, check their temperature and check for dehydration. They may be experiencing a blockage.
  14. Buy the book “Dog Owner's Home Veterinary Handbook.” This will be a big help to you!
  15. Be sure to keep your bullie's nails trimmed and check paws for any problems.
  16. Bathe your bullie once a month. Too many baths can cause dry skin. Use blue for white and black colors. (I use the horse shampoo or baby shampoo) for skin issues, use dandruff shampoo !!!
    A. After the puppy is around 7/8 months, change from puppy food to adult food. Bullies Adults need less protein in their diet now. Too much protein can cause stones in the bladder if our dog starts having yeast in the ears and skin. You may have to change to a GAIN FOOD. STAY AWAY FROM CHICKEN BONE MEAL OR CHICKEN BY-PRODUCTS. IF YOUR DOG HAS AN OUTSIDE ALLERGY, YOU CAN USE 10MG OF ZYRTEC EVERY DAY, OR BENEDRYL TO HAVE A LONG AND HEALTHY LIFE, MY BULLIES!!!! ATTENTION NEVER, NEVER GIVE YOUR PET ANY SUGAR-FREE FOOD GUM SODA FOOD, LOOK FOR THE XYLITOL I THE ITEMS. WILL KILL YOUR PET!!!!
  17. Wash your Dog Dishes in the dishwasher every day!!! Clean bedding and you're bedding (if your pet sleeps with you) twice a week. Clean hard toys in the dishwasher once a week. Soft toys in the washing machine or soak in bleach water, rinse, and let dry. This will keep bacterial microorganisms from your pet and your family!!!
Fleas and ticks and mosquitoes and bug bites!!!!!!
Make sure you have your dog on HEART WORM HEARTGUARD AND NEXGUARD-FOR FLEAS AND TICKS PROTECTION FROM ALL PARASITES ALL YEAR Check your dog for Lyme Disease(tick bites) NEVER USE FLEA COLLARS THEY ARE POISON TO PEOPLE AND DOGS NEVER USE TWO FLEAS MEDS– OVERDOSE YOUR PET!!!
TIPS to keep fleas and ticks away, Use Scotts Summer Guard Bug Control on your Yard Spring /Fall. Wash your dog in Dawn Dish Soap, use a spay bottle with lemon juice and water 50/50. Put Vinegar in the dog's drinking water, 1/4 c. to 5 gallon water. The skin of soft use roll on the dog.

Soundra,Eric and I wanted to write a testimonial for you now that you have more Panda Pups! First of all, congratulations! Second of all: Ramona has been the most amazing addition to our lives. Being a bulldog, she has had her fair share of difficulties, but I count myself the luckiest of dog owners. She has a beautiful temperament to match her beautiful markings. Everywhere we go, people smile and ask where we got her. She is a joy and we want to thank you so much for bringing her into our lives!

We love our Little Miss Molly!
We had two bulldogs before we had met Sandy and the poor things had many health issues and some bad temperaments. They were both from Pet Land.
Both of our Pet Land bulldogs died at a young age. We met Sandy 17 yrs ago and fell in love with her dogs! She truly is a dog lover!!
We knew we would purchase our next bulldog from her as we saw her hand raise all her puppies and love on them as if she were keeping every one of them.
We selected our beloved Winston 15 years. ago, and he was the love of my family's life. He was the best pet we had ever owned! Winston lived to be 11 yrs. old!
We had always stayed in touch with Sandy and visited her and her puppies often…knowing as Winston was aging, we would certainly select another bulldog from Sandy.
Three years ago (3 months after Winston passed), we selected our Little Miss Molly and she is as healthy and wonderful as anyone could every want. Sandy’s puppies, Mommy’s and Daddy’s are the sweetest dogs we have ever met. Over the years we have referred several folks to Sandy and our own son purchased a bulldog from Sandy as soon as he was out of college.
Our family can’t say enough about our relationship with Sandy and her outstanding furry children!

Soundra,
This is Ryan Smith we purchased the little girl puppy from Allie’s litter. We have been so happy with her we may consider a second. Could you send me a picture of each of the females to be bred, along with their size? We like the smaller ones. I know they probably won’t be as tiny as our little Lainey, but we would like smaller parents if possible. Just an update Lainey is 15 pounds now, we took her in for shots this past week. Thank You and Karla for having such a wonderful bulldog, she has been just a joy!!!

Soundra,
I just thought I would send a photo of Lainey. She is doing well. She just had the Cherry Eye removed from her left eye, and she went through that just fine. She is up to 9 pounds now, she has been a wonderful addition to our home.
Thanks again

A dog is laying on the floor and looking at something.

Chance is doing great. He went to the vet yesterday for shots including bordatella, heart worm check and i took a stool sample. The vet said he looks real good.He weighs 65 lbs.Hard to believe he’s been with us for a year. Everybody always makes a big fuss over him when i take him somewhere and one woman was taking pics of him.
I was wondering how old he has to be for him to be breed and if you would be interested in using him for any of yours or know anybody looking for a stud?
Take Care,

~Nancy

Hi Soundra, how are you? I’ve been meaning to email forever now. I loved, loved,
loved the Christmas card you sent, it has to be the cutest Christmas card I’ve ever received. Here are a couple of recent photos of Mr. Chips. He has become a big boy. He is well over 60 Ibs. and that was around Christmas time. He has the most adorable personality and strangest quirks, but overall he has been a really good puppy. I take him for 2-mile walks at least 5 days a week, so he is in really good
condition, and he has a bunch of “friends” that we meet up with to play in the snow.
Hope all is well at your household. Tell Rex we all say “hello”.

Hi! We got a bulldog from you over a year ago. Capo was born April 19,2009. His parents are Elliot’s HD Fat Boy and Redd’s Heavenly Xanadu. His full name is Capo the Don Nicklin =) I just wanted to send you some of his pictures. We absolutely love him. He is the most spoiled dog I know. He is our child just with a lot of fur! We would love to get another bulldog sometime soon when we have a bigger house. We want a little girl this time. Here is a little update about Capo, he is about 55 pounds!

The vet here just loves him. He is very sweet. Loves to sleep in till noon. We take him on walks but sometimes he makes us carry him back because he is to tired! Loves to be in the car! He goes everywhere with us. He was a rooster last year for Halloween, and this year, he is going to be a turtle. We got him a life vest so he can swim in the pool this summer which he did great at! We had a birthday party for him, and I will include some of those pictures. We even made him a doggie cake and invited other dogs over. The theme was Sponge Bob! I just wanted to say thank you for the best part of our lives! We would be lost without him. Sometimes I just want to call off work because I feel so bad that he has to wait 2 hours for Casey to get home from work. Thanks again so much! Hope you enjoy the pictures!
Thanks

~Emily and Casey
